Description
Home Farmhouse is a 17th century building constructed with render over roughly coursed and squared rubble, topped with old slate roofs. The right-hand section is likely the oldest part of the structure. The farmhouse consists of two houses, which were almost certainly built as separate units. It is two storeys high, with the right-hand house featuring a two-unit plan and a central entrance. The lower windows have drop-ended hood moulds, while three upper windows are located beneath the eaves. Throughout the building, there are small-paned casement or horizontally sliding sash windows.
The central house also has a central entrance with a heavy stone lintel above the doorway, and small-paned casement windows above and to the left, with a 6-pane fixed-light window to the right. To the left, a single-unit house represents a separate phase, featuring small-paned casement windows and a doorway with steep cambered heads. The rear elevation facing the stable yard has an irregular arrangement of windows, mainly consisting of older insertions, including sash windows with 4 and 16 panes, although some earlier windows with cambered heads are still visible.
Inside the right-hand house, there is a roughly arched bresummer above a former inglenook fireplace, along with paired spine beams that have scrolled chamfer stops in the main room. A splat baluster staircase adds to the interior features.
