Description
The Horseshoe Falls and canal entry pounds with sluices are a stone weir that is crescent-shaped, measuring 140.2 meters in length. It features an upstream slope and a vertical downstream face that is approximately 1.2 meters high. The crest consists of 1.2-meter square stones topped with bullnosed cast iron sections that are 2.75 meters long. On the eastern side of the weir, the river flows into a stone-lined pound with sluices before it enters the canal. Additionally, a gauging station has been established above the junction at the head of the canal.
