Description
Seion Wesleyan Methodist Chapel is a small chapel built in local limestone, dating from the 19th century, featuring a slate roof with a tile ridge. The stonework on the front elevation is axe-dressed but uncoursed, while the sides and rear are constructed from rubble. The front roof verge has been restored with plain bargeboards. The symmetrical front has twin entrances flanking two round-arched sash windows, all openings are chamfered. The restored boarded doors have fanlights above them. Centrally above the windows is a small stone that records the dates of this chapel and the first chapel.
The rear gable has two windows, and the left side has one window, all with restored frames. There is a small blocked high-level ventilator in the rear gable.
At the front, a small forecourt is enclosed by a low wall made of large stones, topped with iron railings. A small vestry has been added to the left, featuring modern roof sheeting, a door, and a window.
Inside, the chapel has a twin-entrance layout with a lobby at each entrance. It contains pine pews and a pulpit that is likely contemporary to the chapel's construction, along with a boarded dado. There is a wall recess behind the pulpit with pilasters made from plaster. The ceiling is divided into nine panels, featuring a boarded lozenge and a decorative plaster feature at the center.
