Description

The agricultural range at Plas-newydd is a long cowshed and loft built from uncoursed axe-dressed local limestone, topped with a slate roof, and oriented north to south. At the south end, there is a taller barn primarily constructed of brickwork, which has been added alongside the cowshed. Similarly, at the north end, there is another taller building, a large lofted shed, also added in tandem.

The central lofted cowshed features two hatches above at the front, which faces the old farmyard, along with several ventilation slits. It has three doors and two windows below, with doors that include hatch openings above and additional ventilation slits at the rear. The barn has a stonework gable that abuts the cowshed, but is otherwise built of brick with patterns of ventilation holes on each side. It has high barn doorways at both the front and rear, although the original doors are missing, and it has reduced height doors at the front along with two other doors. The lofted shed includes three latticed ventilation windows on each side and a wide opening in the north gable wall.

Attached to the southwest corner is a single-storey range of four open-fronted livestock sheds, along with a two-storey barn, which has further sheds extending from corner to corner with the latter. The central barn is lofted and consists of seven bays.
