Description
The Former Miller's House at Melin Meiarth is a two-storey building constructed from local axe-dressed gritstone, featuring larger stones at the corners. It has a roof made of small slates with moderate eaves and verge overhangs, and a tile ridge. The late 19th-century end chimney stacks are made of yellow brick and built on the bases of earlier red-brick stacks.
The front elevation is symmetrical with three windows and a central vertically boarded door with an overlight. The sash windows, which likely have been restored, feature horns and consist of 16 panes each in exposed frames. The central window above the door is slightly smaller than the others. At the rear, which is partly covered by creeper, the window arrangement is irregular, with one similar sash window above, one below, and a two-light casement window. The lower windows have segmental brick head arches.
To the right of the house is the former shippon, built from similar materials and featuring a rear chimney stack. It has three modern windows at the front set in earlier doorways with brick arched heads, along with an enlarged rear doorway and windows.
The interior has not been seen but is reported to retain its slate floors.
