Description

The Old Bank, which includes the Lower Range entered from Capel Street, is a three-storey building with an attic, featuring a six-window red brick front, a steep slate roof, and red brick chimney stacks. It has bracket eaves and freestone dressings, including cill bands, lintels, and architraves on the ground floor. The facade is divided into three sections, each with two windows, where the central section is advanced and curves around the corner. The outer bays have gabled dormers, while the second and first floors feature four and six-pane casement windows. The ground floor has cross frame windows and intermittent freestone quoins and an entablature. The window architraves are adorned with cornices and panelled aprons. The main entrance, located to the left of the curved section, has a fluted architrave with a keystone, with two windows positioned to the right. There is an additional entrance to the left, both featuring double panelled doors.

To the right, facing Chapel Street, there is a two-storey extension that has a vertical break in construction. This extension is also of a similar period and made of red brick, with a hipped slate roof. It features a squared later oriel on the first floor and a six-pane casement window below, with a first-floor cill band that continues. The side elevation has paired windows above a tall pedimented doorcase, which includes a panelled door and flanking lamp brackets. At the back, there are gate piers leading to a coach house.

Inside, the main entrance hall retains a deep bracket cornice with egg and dart and acanthus detail, along with panelled mahogany counter furnishings.
