Description
37 Russell Road is a two-storey building with attics, originally featuring rusticated render on the ground floor, although this has been lost in the adjacent properties at Nos 39-41. The building has slate roofs with ridge cresting and end wall stacks, some of which are now truncated. It has a four-window range with advanced outer gables and short side wings that house entrances to the two outer properties. The gables are adorned with two-storeyed canted bay windows, while the ground floor features Palladian windows, with an impost band that creates a continuous line across the facade. The windows in the gable apex have deep moulding above the impost band.
The central range has an advanced lower storey, which includes porches leading to recessed entrances on either side, along with rectangular bay windows. These bay windows contain paired round-headed windows with heavily moulded heads and cast-iron brattishing over the cornice. The paired first-floor windows have stilted arched moulded heads, with low impost bands that extend across the facade. All the windows are four-pane sashes. The central section is topped with a modillion cornice and features scalloped bargeboards on the gables. Gabled dormers in the roof of the central section have paired sashes and bargeboards.
