Description
Foryd Bridge is a Grade II listed steel arch 'bowspring' bridge built with two spans, each measuring 150 feet. It features paired central iron drum supports and reinforced concrete abutments. On either side of the bridge are concrete side bridges with triple flat arched spans, and shallow stepped parapets that extend as a sea-wall, retaining the roadway on the northeast side. The main spans consist of parallel welded steel arched trusses, with the road-bed supported by girders. Vertical posts provide bracing for the trusses, which are also reinforced laterally and longitudinally at the center of the span. The bridge includes cantilevered footways on both sides, equipped with cast-iron handrails.
