Description

60 & 62 Rhos Road, Rhos on Sea.

Pair of cottages, dated 1853, and said to be associated with the development of the quarry at Llys Euryn. Roughly coursed and squared stone, slate roofs with pronounced overhang, and central diagonally set stack. 2 storeys, symmetrically planned with a wide central gable, and entrances to either side. Doorways originally had small porch gables, carried on struts, and with chamfered timber posts bracing the apex. This survives in No 60, but has been replaced by a similarly scaled porch in No 62. In the gable, 3-light mullioned and transomed windows to ground floor, 2-light casements above, all with lattice glazing. Dated on an inset stone at the gable apex.
