Description
St Trillo's Vicarage is a 19th-century building featuring a ground floor rendered with small polygonal pieces of stone and roughcast above, complemented by freestone dressings and a plain tiled roof. The structure has two storeys, with the entrance located in an advanced gable towards the centre. The main living areas are situated to the west and at the rear, while service rooms are positioned to the right. The entrance gable is made of stone on the lower level and features a doorway offset to the right, framed by a moulded architrave with a shaped head, inspired by a 16th-century design, which includes the date and the inscription 'Nisi Domini'. To the left of the doorway is a three-light window, with another three-light window above it. The service range to the right of the entrance has bands of one and two-light windows on each floor. There is a canted bay window on the west gable return, accompanied by a timber balcony. The rear elevation showcases a central full-height canted bay window that projects from a gable, featuring two and three-light windows in the bay and similar windows to its right. The service range to the left of the bay primarily has two-light windows. All windows are designed with high-set transoms and decorative leading in the upper lights. Adjoining the house to the east is a single-storey range of outbuildings that creates a small enclosed yard.
Inside, the house includes a spacious entrance and stair hall, featuring an internal timber porch or lobby with leaded glazing, and a turned baluster staircase. The original joinery throughout the house is notable, with distinctive horizontal moulded panels on the doors. Some original fireplaces remain, including a hall fireplace adorned with enamelled tiles.
