Description

White Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, displaying group value. The exterior is roughcast render with a slate roof, supported by plain chamfered angle brackets. A brick end wall and axial stacks are present, with the axial stack stepped in profile. The windows are metal casements, each with a slightly swept hood mould. The street-facing elevation has a narrow central gable featuring a steep, chamfered arch over the doorway on the right-hand side. The main roofline sweeps down over a garage projecting from the left-hand side of the gable. A narrow round-arched window sits on the ground floor of the gable, with a small two-light casement in the apex. A two-light casement window is located on the ground floor to the right of the central gable, alongside further three- and four-light casement windows in the gable end. The rear elevation features French doors set beneath a steep porch gable carried on struts to the left, and a central four-light casement window. The roofline is raised to form a catslide dormer with plain angle brackets, set above windows of two and four lights immediately below its eaves. To the right, the main roofline extends over an outshut which runs underneath this catslide dormer.
