Description
Fountains Bar & Cafe, which includes No 1 Llewelyn Avenue, is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring stone-faced elevations and a slate roof. The building has a toothed eaves cornice. On the first floor, facing Mostyn Street, there are four round-headed 4-pane windows and two segmentally-headed dormers in the attic, both with sash glazing. The ground floor has two modern plate glass restaurant windows, flanked by some rustication. There is a canted corner bay with a segmental-headed dormer above, a semi-circular headed sash window on the first floor, and a modern doorway on the ground floor. The elevation facing Llewelyn Avenue consists of four bays, with two segmental-headed dormers, four round-headed windows on the first floor, and two plate glass windows on the ground floor, along with a stone doorway at the right-hand end. Lean-to verandas, dating from the late 19th century to early 20th century, are present against the ground floor elevations, comprising three bays on Mostyn Street, one bay on the corner elevation, and three bays on Llewelyn Avenue. These verandas feature cast-iron columns with capitals and bulbous bases, as well as spandrils.
