Description

The former coach house and stables at Glan-y-Mawddach is an L-shaped building dating from the second quarter of the 19th century. It has been remodeled at the turn of the 20th century and again after the Second World War. The structure is two storeys high, built of rubble with renewed slate roofs.

The southern range features large modern boarded garage doors, with a boarded door to the right and a plain two-pane fanlight above. There is a boarded and gabled loading bay above that breaks the eaves. The western range includes a segmental-arched cart entrance in the right-hand gabled bay, which has boarded double doors. Above this entrance is a near-flush 36-pane sash window from the 19th century. To the left on the ground floor, there are three further boarded doors; the first was formerly a cart entrance and has an adjoining four-pane window that has been extended to form a triple-pane fanlight. The other two doorways are set in a flush section to the left, which is slightly stepped down. To the extreme left, there is a four-pane sash window, and three additional similar windows are located on the first floor.

At the entrance to the coach yard to the north, there is a pair of square rubble gate piers with stepped capping. These piers are topped with figures of heraldic griffins that bear shields with the letter K, representing Keighley, made from reconstituted stone.
