Description

Plas Glasgwm is a building dating from the early 18th century, with part of an earlier house incorporated on the left side. The right side features rubble stonework, while the left has flatter, roughly coursed stones. It has a hipped slate roof and an almost central square stone chimney. The north gable includes a projecting stepped chimney with an oven situated between the chimney and the house. The upper floor has three half-dormers with raking roofs. The broad entrance doorway is set beneath a deep stone lintel. To the right of the door is a vertically-proportioned casement window under a deep stone lintel, alongside a smaller window with a simple stone lintel. To the left of the door is an almost square window with a deep stone lintel and a blocked doorway. At the rear, there is a dairy outshot from the early 19th century, featuring a window to the north. A water course for an iron and wood water wheel, approximately 2 meters in diameter, is under restoration as of February 1992.

At right angles to the 18th-century block is a 19th-century addition that incorporates parts of the earlier house. This section has two first-floor casement windows positioned asymmetrically near the eaves, along with a central single-storey gabled porch that has a pointed-arched doorway and a vertically-proportioned casement window to the left. The west elevation features a single window on each floor.

Inside the 18th-century section, there is a transverse chamfered beam and exposed unchamfered joists. To the north, there is a fireplace with a massive lintel, while to the south, there is likely a 19th-century stair. The roof features collar beams. The rear dairy outshot has a slate slab floor and a bench. The block at right angles contains a main room with an inglenook fireplace, which has a massive narrow-chamfered lintel with a lamb's tongue stop, as well as a massive narrow-chamfered ceiling beam and chamfered joists. The thick eastern wall includes a wooden window lintel with mortices for four square window mullions.
