Description

The barn at Plas Glasgwm is a building of probable 18th-century origin, although it retains earlier elements. It has a slate roof, hipped to the north. The walls are constructed of rubble stone, roughly squared and roughly coursed, with a plinth of large flat stones. The south gable end has been truncated and altered to create a modern, wide entrance suitable for agricultural machinery, although the barn has not been entirely demolished. The west elevation features a doorway with a deep stone lintel to the left, and to the right, a doorway incorporating a reused 15th or 16th-century doorhead with a four-centred arch. A square pitching window is visible on the north elevation. An outbuilding adjoins the north end of the east side of the barn.

Inside, the barn retains old collar and tie beam roof trusses with queen posts, although the north truss is of a different design, featuring curved principals and a tie beam only. Two tiers of purlins are also present.
