Description

This is an early 19th century terrace of four town houses, numbers 37 to 43 Tegid Street, including the associated forecourt walls and railings. The houses retain their original windows and entrance overlights.

The terrace is built of local rubble stone with a continuous slate roof, which has a wide overhang. There are three large stone chimneys; the central one is smaller than those on either side. The terrace is arranged with near symmetry over nine bays. Each house generally occupies two bays (an entrance and a window), except number 39, which has three bays. The window to the left of number 39 marks the central bay of the group. To its left is the entrance to number 41, followed by two window bays, and finally the entrance to number 43 occupying the left-hand end bay. Number 37, at the right-hand end, has an outer entrance and an additional window above it. The ground floor windows have elegant 15-pane sashes, and the upper floor windows have 12-pane sashes. The original two-panel doors remain, with the exception of number 43, which has a modern replacement. The original rectangular overlights have original marginal glazing. Low rubble forecourt walls support simple iron railings, though these are modern replacements at number 37. The interior was not inspected.
