Description

This is a terrace of four town houses, built in the first quarter of the 19th century. They form a group with numbers 37 to 43 Tegid Street, including their forecourt walls and railings. The buildings are constructed of local rubble stone with a continuous slate roof that has a wide overhang. There are three large stone chimney stacks, with the central stack being smaller than those on either side. The terrace is arranged with a near-symmetrical appearance across nine bays. Typically, each house occupies two bays – an entrance and a window – but number 39 is wider, extending over three bays. The left-hand window of number 39 marks the central bay of the entire terrace; to its left is the entrance to number 41, followed by two window bays, and finally the entrance to number 43 occupies the left-hand end bay. Number 37, at the right-hand end of the terrace, features an outer entrance with an additional window above. The ground floor windows have elegant 15-pane sashes, while those above are 12-pane sashes. The original two-panel doors remain, except at number 43, where there is a modern replacement. The original rectangular overlights retain their marginal glazing. Low rubble stone forecourt walls are topped with simple iron railings; modern replacements are present at number 37. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
