Description
The L-shaped agricultural complex west of Hafod Lwyfog dates from the 18th century and consists of a hay barn with a lofted cowhouse and a lower cowhouse addition. It is constructed of boulder and rubble with slate roofs and tiled ridges. The byre features uncoped, kneelered gable parapets. The hay barn has five openings on each side, which are temporarily boarded, and an upper loading bay on the left gable. A modern agricultural shed has been added to the rear. The byre is positioned at right angles to the hay barn at the northern end and includes a vertical ventilation slit on the upper front gable and another slit on the long northern side. To the right on the northern side, there is an entrance with a recessed modern boarded door. The cowshed addition steps down from this and has a central entrance flanked by former entrances that have been reduced to windows, with a modern door.
Inside the hay barn, there is a five-bay layout featuring wide bolted collar trusses along with oak and pine purlins and rafters, all roughly scantled. The byre has a similar two-bay roof, while the cowshed has four-bay collar trusses, consistent with the others.
