Description
Graig Farmhouse is a 1.5-storey, two-window house that features a hall/kitchen and two service rooms. The exterior is constructed of rubble masonry, which is whitewashed on the front. It has a steeply pitched new slate roof with skylights at the rear, plain eaves, and raking gable parapets. A 19th-century stone stack is located to the right of the building.
The house includes 19th-century gabled stone dormers and Victorian sash windows. The ground floor has similar windows, with the left window enlarged and a stone lintel above the right window. There is a central doorway with a modern door and a stone lintel. To the right, there is a modern rubble extension with a corrugated lean-to roof. The rear elevation has two windows.
Adjoining the farmhouse to the left, downslope, is an 18th-century cowhouse that replaced an earlier structure, possibly made of timber. This cowhouse is built of coursed rubble masonry and has a steeply pitched slate roof with raking gable parapets. It features three doorways that step downhill, each with stone lintels, and a loft entry at the rear accessed from higher ground.
Inside, the cowhouse originally had through purlin collared trusses, but these have been updated with modern ties and reinforcements. It was originally fully lofted. The interior also includes stop-chamfered ceiling beams and joists, a deep timber bressumer over a broad fireplace, and a 19th-century central pillar. There is a door leading to a stone stair on the left.
