Glandwr Cottages including garden wall and gates

Glandwr Cottages, including the garden wall and gates, are a mirrored pair of cottages built in the late 19th century, designed in a simplified gothic style typical of the Tan-y-bwlch estate from that period. The cottages are constructed from mortared rubble masonry, featuring large stones as quoins and lintels. They have a slate roof with overhanging eaves and verges, and a broad central stone stack with dripstones and capping. Each cottage includes a gabled half dormer that protrudes from the eaves line at the center of the main elevation, with timbered panelling at the apex and shaped finials on top. The gable apexes also feature similar open panels. A full-width verandah with a slate roof is supported by timber piers along the main elevation. The doorways are located at the outer ends of the main elevation, and the windows are timber casements with 2 and 3 lights, complete with slate sills. The garden is surrounded by a low rubble wall topped with raking stone slab coping, marked by tall square gatepiers with pyramidal heads and alternating tall and short vertical railings with arrowhead finials.

At No 1, the original timber casement windows have been replaced with UPVC windows. The interior was not inspected during the survey conducted in June and July 2003.
