4 Glandwr Cottages including garden wall and gates

4 Glandwr Cottages, including the garden wall and gates, are a mirrored pair of late 19th century cottages built in a simplified Gothic style typical of the Tan-y-bwlch estate from that period. They are constructed from mortared rubble masonry, featuring large stones as quoins and lintels. The cottages have a slate roof with overhanging eaves and verges, and a broad central stone stack with dripstones and capping. Each house includes a gabled half dormer that interrupts the eaves line at the center of the main elevation; these dormers are set forward from the wall and have timbered paneling at the apex, topped with shaped finials. The gable apexes also have similar open panels. A full-width verandah with a slate roof is supported by timber piers along the main elevation. The doorways are positioned at the outer ends of the main elevation, and the windows are timber casements with 2 and 3 lights and slate sills. The garden is enclosed by a low rubble wall with raking stone slab coping, which is punctuated by tall square gatepiers with pyramidal heads. The gatepiers are topped with alternating tall and short vertical railings featuring arrowhead finials. It is noted that No 4 has UPVC windows that have replaced the original wooden casements. The interior was not inspected during the survey conducted in June and July 2003.
