Description
This late 17th century barn at Ty Mawr is built from rubble and features an old slate roof. It is set into a slight slope on a hill. The barn has a central entrance on the west side, flanked by ventilation slits. On the east side, there are three entrances that ascend the incline, with the leftmost entrance having a boarded door and additional ventilation slits. Attached to the east wall, between the lower entrances, is an iron shaft connected to a surprisingly large 19th century iron mill wheel. This wheel is located in a rubble-walled water channel immediately to the east of the barn and has wooden spokes. It is likely that this wheel powered a feed mill.
