Carleg

Carleg is a Y-plan rubble building dating from the 18th century, consisting of two storeys and featuring renewed slate roofs. It has a tall, octagonal central stack with a square base and moulded capping. The two cottages are symmetrical units that share the same architectural detailing. There are single-storey porches with hipped roofs on the south and east arms, which face the road.

The southeast corner has a storied central projection with a hipped roof, containing two windows on each floor—one for each unit. The ground floor windows have returned labels, while the upper windows are positioned under the eaves. The first floor of the north and west gable ends also features similar labelled windows. Beneath the north gable, there is a square bay with a hipped roof, while the bay on the west side has been removed.

At the rear angle between the arms of the Y, there is an extruded porch canopy supported by timber props, with its roof continuing with the angled section above the cottages. The entrance leads to a communal lobby space located behind the stack, which includes a contemporary bread oven. The southwest unit has modern windows, while the northwest unit features early 20th-century four-pane windows and modern roof lights in both units.
