Description

Glanyrafon is a two-storey estate cottage built in the Georgian tradition, featuring a centralised plan. It is constructed from local slatestone and has a hipped slate roof with a squat central chimney, plain capping, and weathercoursing. The cottage has a main three-bay block with a continuous dairy outshut at the rear and a long lean-to stable and cartshed addition on the left (south) side.

The main elevation is symmetrical, with a central entrance that includes a hipped-roofed, slated stone porch open to the front. The entrance has a modern boarded inner door with an upper light. Original unhorned 16-pane sash windows are present on both floors to the left and right, along with a blind window above the entrance. These windows feature rough-dressed slate lintels and projecting slate sills. The rear elevation has an entrance to the left with a boarded door, and three late 20th-century wooden-framed windows to the right (two 2-pane and one 4-pane), as well as small fixed 4-pane windows on each side.

The lean-to addition is made of rubble with a slated roof and includes boarded wooden garage doors on the south side and a boarded door at the rear, along with a recessed loading bay diagonally above this to the left. Adjacent to the cottage on the north side is a single-storey three-bay kennel block, also constructed of rubble and slate, with a yellow stock brick front facing a rear yard. This kennel block features three boarded doors, each with meshed vents above.

Inside, the cottage has a plain interior, with the main living room located to the right of the entrance and a small parlour to the left, both featuring plastered ceilings.
