Description

Brynderw comprises a range of twelve houses built in the 18th century, located on Heol Tan-y-bryn, Abergynolwyn. The houses are constructed from irregular coursed slate rubble, with slate roofs featuring red roll clayware ridges, deep eaves, and verges. Each house is two storeys high and has a double-depth plan with a lateral passage leading to the entrance. They each have a four-panelled front door with raised mouldings and a narrow overlight, set beneath flush stone lintels above the ground floor openings. Sixteen-pane unhorned sash windows are present on both floors, with the upper-floor windows being smaller and narrower. Chimneys are grouped along the party walls between the houses. A regular two-storey slated service wing extends to the rear, with whitewashed sides and a slate roof with red roll ridges. Lean-to additions are also present at the rear. One of the houses has a four-panelled door with raised mouldings, the upper panels glazed.
