Description
Wernlas-Deg is a one-and-a-half storey end chimney house built of rough-rendered rubble on boulder and rock foundations. It features rendered gable parapets and projecting end chimneys. The chimney on the left side, which is the hall end, is gabled and offset, with a partly-reduced stack. The chimney on the right side, the parlour end, has a square end that is corbelled out at first-floor level.
There is an off-centre entrance to the left, accessed through an early 20th-century corrugated iron gabled porch. The entrance has a recessed boarded door with a deep projecting lintel supported by rough stone corbels. To the left of the entrance and on the far right are original window openings with projecting stone lintels, featuring 4-pane sashes. The upper floor has three square catslide dormers with unglazed windows, although the one on the far left is partly collapsed.
At the rear, there is a near-central entrance with a lintel similar to the front, and two windows to the right with modern glazing, along with another similar window on the upper floor. To the left, there is an early 20th-century rubble outshut with a corrugated asbestos roof.
The interior was not fully inspected during the survey due to the building's dangerous condition. It contains boarded partitions from around 1900 and inter-war fireplaces, along with some exposed chamfered beams.
