Description
Free Holder is a house that includes a former cow-house, which has been extensively remodeled as part of the house's modernization. The original part of the house, located to the left, is built from rubble with the earlier render removed from the front elevation, and it features modern render on the gable wall. The house has a uniform slate roof that replaces the earlier small heavy grouted slates. The gable end stacks have been rebuilt and cement rendered. The former cow-house to the right is also constructed of exposed rubble and has a modern slate roof with slightly lower eaves.
The house has a doorway that is offset to the left, flanked by modern windows. There are three modern dormer windows in the roof, which are larger replacements of the earlier windows. New openings have been inserted in the rear wall. The cow-house also features modern windows and has two smaller dormers added to the roof slope.
Inside, the property has been modernized but retains the original roof structure, including collar trusses and purlins. However, the partition and staircase that were noted in the earlier listing description have been removed.
