Description

This building comprises two houses at 25 and 27 Castle Street. It appears to date roughly from the 18th century and is constructed of roughly coursed and shaped boulder rubble. The roof is of modern slate, with red tiled cresting and end wall stacks. The building is two storeys high, with a three-window range on each floor. The building’s plan follows a two-unit design, with the doorway situated towards the centre. The doors are renewed and set within earlier openings. Number 27 has a four-pane sash window on either side of the entrance, and three similar windows above that do not align with the lower openings. Number 25 features a two-pane sash window to the left of the doorway, and a long, three-light window to the right, likely relating to its former use as a shop. Above, three narrow four-pane sashes are aligned with the three lower openings.
