Description

The quay walls at Slate Quay are Grade II listed structures primarily made of rubble stone. At the northwest end, there is a north-south section that is approximately 40 meters long, starting from the abutment of Aber Bridge, featuring stone steps at both ends and a noticeable batter in the wall. The east-west return also has a similar batter and extends for about 40 meters before stepping out. The remaining section of the wall is the original structure, which has only a slight batter. This part continues for roughly 100 meters, curving toward the southeast, where it extends for about 250 meters to the former Union Ironworks, where buildings are situated along the waterfront. Along the quay, there are cylindrical stone mooring posts and some cast iron mooring posts.
