Description
Tanyfron is a farmhouse built of rubble stone, featuring a purple slate roof with coped gables and stone stacks from the 19th century. The building is two stories high and has a double front that is significantly offset to the right, suggesting that the left chimney was likely once part of a larger kitchen stack. On the first floor, there are two 4-pane sash windows located under the eaves. The ground floor includes a 4-pane sash window on the left, a smaller 2-pane sash window on the right, and a half-glazed door. The ground floor windows are topped with slab lintels.
At the rear, there is an outshut to the right with a side entry and one window under the eaves, as well as a 4-pane sash window under the eaves to the left. To the left of the main front, there is a former stable with a grouted slate roof and an 8-pane fixed-light window under the eaves on the right, along with a door at the rear left. To the right of the main front, a former cow-house has a slate roof, with older grouted slates at the rear. It features a stable door in the center with a slab lintel and a window to the right under the eaves. The rear door and window are partially blocked.
The interior was entirely gutted at the time of inspection. It includes a cambered timber lintel over the fireplace on the left and a beam over the entry to the rear outshut. There are two 19th-century roof trusses. The cow-house contains a 19th-century truss and has a half-loft over the eastern end with tongue-and-groove boarding, which may have been used for domestic purposes in the past.
