Description

The Telford Milestone, located by Bethesda Football Club, is made of dressed Anglesey limestone and features a shallow triangular head with raking chamfered sides. It has a cast iron inset plate with white lettering on a black background that reads: HOLY- / HEAD / 30 / BANGOR / 5 / C. CURIG / 9M – 3F. Below the plate, there is a benchmark on the stone.

This milestone is set in front of a slate arch that is part of a slate block boundary wall. This arch is an example of a “Telford Arch,” which is believed to have been designed to enhance the visibility of the milestone.
