Description

The Quarry Office is a single-storey building designed in a simpler version of the free Italianate style, similar to the Penrhyn Estate office at Porth Penrhyn. It is constructed from regularly coursed and dressed rubblestone blocks, featuring finely jointed voussoirs around the doors and windows, and has a mainly hipped slate roof.

On the main elevation, there is a projecting stepped gable to the left, which frames a round-arched recess containing a tripartite sash window with glazing bars, along with a 4-paned sash window above. To the right, there is an entrance accessed through a segmental-headed 4-panel door. The main section to the right includes two segmental-headed sash windows, with a similar 2-paned sash window in the front wall of a small hip-roofed square projection. The right return of the main section features two similar 6-paned sashes in segmental-headed surrounds, while the back wall has three sash windows, all located to the left of a lean-to porch that connects with a rear projection leading to a large 20th-century extension linked to the original building.

A slate slab ridge stack is positioned at the far right of the main range, with similar stacks located towards the top of its hipped ends. Inside, the building retains slate fireplaces with bracketed surrounds.
