Neuadd Alun (Normal College)

Neuadd Alun, also known as Normal College, is a three-storey building with an attic, featuring a five-bay front made of cement render. The slate roof has a swept-up ridge at the peaks and swept boarded eaves. There is a louvered bellcote with a finial and an off-centre cement render chimney stack located midway down the roof pitch. The central bay is taller and gabled, with kneelers, while the gable ends have more pronounced kneelers over tapered clasping buttresses that rise to the second floor level.

The building has small pane casement windows with bell dripmoulds, mostly arranged in 2 + 2-light configurations with a dividing panel. There are flat-roofed dormers and a stone mullioned window in the central gable. The staircase windows are stepped down and have dressed stone surrounds, arranged in a 2+3+2-light grouping, with the central three lights contained under a segmental pedimented architrave that is lugged at the base. Raised lettering between the floors reads "Neuadd 1910 Alun."

To either side of the central bay, there are broadly splayed five-light, two-storey bays. The entrance is located at the centre, featuring a low segmental and chamfered arched opening with half-glazed double doors in a splayed recess. There is also a four-light transomed window to the ground floor on the right.

At the rear, there is a cross range that shares similar architectural details. A chimney stack rises through the gable, and the ground floor is splayed across the junction of the cross range. The gable ends have splayed attic oriels, with two-light windows below and four-light windows on the ground floor. Additionally, there is a single-storey arcaded and covered passage that adjoins the right gable end and turns to link with the central Domestic and Dining Hall range.
