Description

The Engine House is a 20th-century structure built from regularly coursed slate slabs and rubblestone, topped with a slate roof. It has a rectangular plan, with the east gable set into the bank. There is a door opening to the left in the long south wall. The building is directly aligned with a blondin ropeway system that extends across the quarry to the north-west.

Inside, it retains a winding drum that is operated by a Bruce Peebles 3-phase motor from 1906, which is connected through reduction gearing. The motor, control mechanism, and liquid controller are all still present.
