Dol-wenith

Dol-wenith is a house that includes a former service or agricultural range, built in a roughly coursed and dressed limewashed slate rubble, featuring some very large blocks. The building has a slate roof with stacks on the gable ends of the original dwelling. The main part of the house has a two-room layout with a central entrance that includes a 20th-century plank doorway, flanked by four-pane sash windows. The first-floor windows, originally positioned just below the eaves, are nine-pane sashes.

To the right of the main house, slightly set back but under the same roof line, is a formerly ancillary range, which may have originally served as a lofted stable. This range features a four-pane sash window on the front and a window in a former doorway on the gable end, which was originally accessed by an external staircase that is now lost. At the rear, there is a very small but full-height outshut on the right with a single doorway, possibly inserted, and a single four-pane sash window on each floor. There is also a large modern extension against the former ancillary range.

The original dwelling retains its two-room plan, although some modifications have been made. The main room includes a large fireplace with a timber bressumer and plain softwood beams and joists. A plank partition that separates this room from the smaller parlour has been re-sited to enlarge the smaller room, which now contains an inserted late 19th-century grate. A modern staircase has been added at the rear of the parlour, replacing an earlier stair that ran parallel to the partition. There is a small corner fireplace in the ancillary range, which now serves as the kitchen. The original roof trusses were replaced with steel in 2000.
