Description

This is a former game larder, likely dating from the 18th century, situated to the rear of Llanfair Hall. The structure is built of red brick, originally with roughcast rendering to three sides, and rubble stone to the rear. It features a slate roof with a hipped front. The front facade has two Gothic pointed windows on each side, except for the left-hand side, which has a square-headed doorway and a single window. The windows and doorway are topped with segmental-pointed brick arches and incorporate timber Y-tracery. Surviving fragments of gauze, typical of game larders, are present. Inside, ceiling hooks remain, indicating the building’s original purpose for hanging game.
