Description
The Game Larder, located immediately northeast of Home Farmhouse, is a building dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a steeply-pitched thatched conical roof. The building has a small octagonal plan and is a single-storey structure.
Windows are positioned on alternate sides of the octagon, each featuring a flat brick arch with a keystone and a two-light casement with diamond leaded panes. There is a doorway on the south side, which has a similar arch and a half-glazed door with glazing bars and ogee top panes, replacing a former plank door.
Inside, the walls are plastered, and the ceiling is coved, with a hoist located at the apex. It is noted that the game larder may have been built around 1840, coinciding with the remodeling and extension of Home Farmhouse.
