Description
This is a group of three late-Georgian style shops with attached houses, located at 18-22 Church Street. The buildings are three storeys high and have pebble-dashed walls, a slate roof, and roughcast stacks, with some parts rebuilt in brick. The shop fronts feature panelled pilasters, fascia, and a simple moulded cornice to numbers 18 and 20, but have been replaced at number 22. A panelled pilaster is positioned between the two recessed entrances; the left-hand door leads to the house and the right-hand door to the shop. Number 18 has replacement half-glazed doors with 3-pane overlights, of which the right-hand door is a replacement, along with a plain replacement shop window. A sign board has been added to the shop fascia. Number 20 retains its original panelled house door, with the upper two panels being fielded, as well as a replacement glazed shop door. Both doors are topped by 3-pane overlights. Number 22 has a replacement panelled house door, and a replacement half-glazed shop door with replacement overlights.
The middle floor has 12-pane horned sash windows with moulded architraves; number 20 has hornless sashes. The upper floor features smooth-rendered eared architraves, with number 20 retaining 9-pane horned sashes, while numbers 18 and 22 have replacement small-pane top-hung casements.
