Description
This is a two-and-a-half-storey house and shop, likely dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The building is constructed of roughcast render, with a slate roof and a roughcast chimney stack positioned to the right of the centre. The front of the building clearly indicates a previous division into two separate properties under individual gables.
The left side of the front features a late 19th-century, arched panel door with glazed sections, and a plain shop window to the left of the door, both protected by a drip mould. The right side has a replacement glazed door with panelled pilasters, flanked by a large, plain shop window featuring fielded pilasters and surrounded by black glazed tiles. This shop front is topped with a fascia that has a moulded cornice. Further to the right is a segmental-headed passage, leading to number 18, which has an iron gate.
The middle floor has a narrow, small-pane, segmental-headed window centrally, and a two-light window to the left. A small, round-headed window is situated within the gable. On the right side of the middle floor is a three-light, small-pane window and a similar two-light window in the attic gable. The interior of the building was not inspected.
