Description
The forecourt wall and gate piers on the south side of the Bulkeley Hotel date from the 19th century. The wall is built on a plinth made of 2 or 3 courses of rock-faced stone and consists of 3 courses of freestone topped with moulded coping. The gate piers, located to the right of center, are simple and square in shape. The left-hand pier has been re-tooled and features a shallow panel. To the left of this pier, the wall continues and curves around the corner of Wall Street, where it meets the extension of the south range. A short section to the right side of the gate piers matches the rest of the wall but then transitions to rubble stone.
