Description

Chauntry House is a late Georgian house that stands two storeys tall with an attic and features four bays. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a moulded stone cornice and parapet. The slate roof is complemented by a brick stack on the right and a roughcast stack on the left. The front of the house is characterized by a wide bay window that extends above the eaves, which is a replacement for a slightly narrower original bay window that was present in 1843. This bay window is roughcast over a freestone plinth band and includes replacement 5-light and 6-light windows, with moulded cornices above and below the attic window.

The three bays to the left create a nearly symmetrical appearance and feature openings beneath tripartite lintels. The entrance consists of a replacement panel door with an overlight, accompanied by two 12-pane hornless sash windows to the left. A first-floor balcony supported by plain cast-iron posts has a replacement balustrade and an added central projection, which conceals an upper-storey sill band. The upper storey includes a central glazed door flanked by 12-pane hornless sash windows, and there are two flat roof dormers with 3-light windows.

On the rendered right gable end, the lower storey is splayed beneath a deep corbel table at the angle with the front elevation, featuring boarded garage doors. The upper storey and attic have inserted windows. The property has not been inspected.
