Description

Gwynfa is a house built in the late Georgian style, featuring two storeys and an attic. The exterior is pebble-dashed with rock-faced quoins and topped with a slate roof. The front has three bays, with a segmental-headed doorway that includes a replacement glazed door, side panels, and an overlight. This doorway is flanked by 12-pane horned sash windows. The middle storey has similar windows on the right and left, although the left-hand window is not aligned with the one below it, and there is a tall central small-pane stair window. At the top, a central gable features a 12-pane horned sash attic window.

On the left side of the house, there is an added one-bay projection, also pebble-dashed with rock-faced quoins, and its roof is concealed behind a moulded cornice. This projection has a 12-pane horned sash window on the lower storey and a fixed 12-pane window above it. The side wall of this projection includes a boarded door to the left.

The right gable end, which faces the Green, has barge boards that are pierced with trefoils and a pendant finial below a notional collar beam. A two-storey canted bay window features French doors, and there is a cast iron balcony supported by Corinthian posts and arched brackets with pierced spandrels, topped with a fretwork-style balustrade. The attic includes a pair of round-headed 8-pane sash windows set in a freestone surround with keystones and a corbelled sill, which is further enhanced by a cast iron grille.

Most of the original interior features were removed when the house was converted into flats, but it still retains its basic layout, which includes a central stair hall and principal rooms on the right side. The full-height open-well staircase has a turned newel and balusters.
