Description

The building consists of a tower, walls, and courtyard buildings located south of the remains of Penrhos House. The courtyard is enclosed and features a crenellated segmental arched gateway with a keystone at the north end. To the west of the gateway is the tower, which is primarily a three-storey square structure used for service accommodation, including a dairy, laundry, and gun-room. The tower extends to the north with a storeyed lean-to extension that is rendered, and a single-storey gabled wing.

The eastern elevation has a single-storey entrance range and a stepped turret at the southeast corner, which includes a subsidiary pointed arched gateway leading to the garden. This area is bordered by a crenellated wall that steps forward and features small corner towers and arrowslits. The tower is built of rubble and has a corbelled and crenellated parapet, with band courses between the floors and a hipped slate roof. The square-headed windows have voussoirs and modern small-paned lights, with the main elevations having one window each, while the elevation facing the outhouse to the north has two windows. There are outside stairs to the south that are roofed over.

To the east of the main gateway is a gable-ended range at the rear of the Penrhos House remains, which includes a Gothic timber bellcote with a fishscale roof. Inside the tower, the entrance leads into the dairy located on the ground floor of the main part. The dairy features tiled walls with friezes depicting pastoral scenes, and an ornate cast iron fire surround that has recently been re-set. The upstairs room contains a green marble fire surround, which has likely also been re-set recently.
