Description

Sherry is a linear farmstead range built in the 19th century. It features a long, two-storey farmhouse with three windows, a former service wing on the left (west) end, and a lofted cartshed on the right. There is also a storeyed wing set at right angles to the back of the house's centre and a single-storey linear range at right angles to the back of the former service wing, with a modern flat-roofed porch in between.

The building is constructed of rubble masonry, which is heavily mortared, while the rear elevations are pebbledashed. The roofs are made of large slates laid in diminishing courses, with tiled ridges and rendered copings, as well as projecting eaves and verges. There are rendered gable stacks, tall rectangular stacks on the main part of the house, and a larger, squarer stack on the former service wing.

The farmhouse is a long, three-window range with a central doorway and widely spaced openings offset to the right. The windows are large 16-pane hornless sashes with slate sills and lintels, and the first-floor windows are positioned directly under the eaves. The former service wing on the left has modern casement windows in enlarged openings to the right. The rear windows of the house are later 19th-century six-pane horned sashes, with one window on each floor flanking the storeyed wing, which is a late 19th or early 20th-century addition.

The lofted cartshed at the eastern end of the farmhouse has a wide, camber-arched doorway at the eastern gable, and there is an external flight of stone steps leading to a boarded loft door at the rear, with a louvred opening to the left. Set at right angles to the rear of the former service wing is a single-storey range, which includes a garage, featuring modern doors and windows. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
