Description

The Old Rectory is a late 19th century or early 20th century rectory designed in an eclectic vernacular revival style, featuring an 'Elizabethan' ground plan, Dutch gables, and Georgian window patterns. This two-storey building has a seven-window range and is constructed in an E-shaped plan, with a central entrance located in an advanced storey porch, flanked by larger and more advanced wings. The structure is made of rubble masonry and is rendered. It has a hipped roof covered with green slates and red clay ridge tiles, along with projecting feathered eaves and rectangular rendered axial stacks on the ridges of the advanced wings. The windows are small paned horned sashes, with 16-pane windows in the advanced blocks and smaller lights beside the entrance porch. The first-floor windows are positioned directly under the eaves. The entrance features a round-headed doorway with a stressed architrave and keystone.

Inside, the central doorway leads into an axial entrance hall, with the main rooms located at the front and service rooms at the rear. An axial staircase with stick balusters is arranged in groups of three. The first floor includes a corridor along the front of the house, with the overporch separated by a slatted wooden partition. Throughout the building, there are two-panel doors.
