Description

This is a two-storey former rectory built of rubble masonry, with all but the north elevation rendered. It has a modern slate roof featuring rendered, rectangular gable stacks and a lateral stack at the rear of the main block. The doors are modern, and the windows are mostly modern timber casements and sashes, with fire escape stairs located at the rear.

The core of the building dates back to the 17th century, evident from the broad-shouldered lateral stack at the rear and an axial stack that likely marks the original extent of the house. There may be an original entrance within the gabled storeyed porch at the front, which now has a modern doorway to its right. The fenestration is scattered, with modern windows and enlarged openings at the rear, along with a single raking dormer to the right of the shouldered lateral stack.

In the 18th century, the house was extended to the south with an additional bay, which is visible on the front (east elevation). This extension includes a single raking dormer to the right, gable returns with first-floor windows on either side of the gable stack, and a ground-floor window offset to the left. The rear features modern ground and first-floor doors, also offset to the left.

A cross wing was added to the north in the early 19th century, around the 1820s. The north elevation remains unrendered and has a three-window range with 12-pane hornless sash windows and gable stacks. There is a small first-floor window at the rear, offset to the east end, while the west gable return has a single ground-floor window to the right and a first-floor fire door to the left.

Although modernized, the building retains rough-hewn pegged and collared trusses.
