Description

Craigton House is a late 17th-century house built in a traditional L-plan shape, with a stair tower situated in the angle where the wings meet. Originally two-and-a-half storeys high, the lower vaulted floor has now been filled in. The exterior is harled, with crowstepped gables and a slated roof, including gabled dormers. The east wing has been extended. The house was initially built for the Ewing family of Craigton. Later in the 18th century, it was acquired by the Hope family and incorporated into the Hopetoun Estate.
