Description

These gate piers date from the 17th century. They are rusticated, meaning their surfaces are deliberately textured to resemble large, roughly-cut stones, and feature cornices – projecting, decorative mouldings. The piers are topped with urn finials, which are small, vase-shaped ornaments.
