Description

This is a bridge, likely dating to around 1820, built as part of the Union Canal. It was engineered by Hugh Baird. The bridge features a single, segmental arch constructed from stugged ashlar stone, with slab copings. The keystones are numbered. The Union Canal itself is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM No. 4170), having been scheduled on 15 December 2003.
