Description

This is a canal bridge, dating to around 1820 and engineered by Hugh Baird. It features a single segmental arch constructed from stugged ashlar with slab copings. The keystones are numbered. The bridge forms part of the Union Canal, which is designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM No. 4170), having been scheduled on 15 December 2003. The bridge’s statutory address is Fawnspark, Union Canal, Bridge 38.
